Round Table Meetings

A round table meeting consists of the lawyers and their clients and may also include a family consultant and financial adviser, all gathering round a table. The round table process is used to facilitate better communications and discussions of ideas and views. A successful round table divorce will keep the process out of court but does not bar clients going to court with their respective lawyers.

There are differences between the collaborative process and the round table process. Lawyers involved in a round table process do not need to be collaboratively trained with the skills that brings. Also clients do not need to sign the participation agreement binding each other to the process and disqualifying their respective lawyer’s right to represent either one in any future family-related litigation.
